THAI BAHT

THB Ref. rate on Dec 02, 04 is 39.180. The Baht surged half a percent to trade at a seven-month high of 39.10 per dollar as optimism about the economys growth prospects after the 7.5 percent drop in oil prices. The stronger yen which traded at its highest since Jan 2000 at 101.86 yen also made the baht and other regional currencies gains. The SET was slightly up 5.64 points to 661.08 points with total volume of 25.44 bio baht. Todays rate, Thai Baht had weakened to 39.40-44 per dollar, in line with the weaker yen to 103.53 from 102 level. Support and resistant are seen 39.30 and 39.50 respectively.

OTHER CURRENCIES

The dollar rallied on Thursday as fears of dollar-buying intervention and a sharp fall in oil prices convinced traders that it was a good time to take profits after days of heavy dollar sales. After registering another all-time low against the euro overnight, the dollar rose as high as $1.3239 per euro. The dollar had set new lows against the euro in seven of the last eight sessions. Fears about dollar-buying intervention, particularly by the Bank of Japan, and the desire to cut back on short dollar positions ahead of Friday's U.S. payrolls report encouraged traders to buy back dollars. Japan on Thursday said that its concern about the dollar's steep decline was shared by Europe and the United States, keeping the market guessing about possible concerted action. But a senior euro zone official later said that European finance ministers had not discussed joint intervention with Japan and did not urge the European Central Bank to intervene. Oil prices fell more than 5 percent on Thursday and U.S. light sweet crude prices are now about $6 lower than just two days ago at $43.25. The U.S. will release November payrolls data on Friday,Economists' median forecast is for a rise of 180,000.

In New York trading, the euro was down 0.40 percent at $1.3274,.Against the yen, the dollar was up 0.39 percent at 103.02 yen , well off a five-year low of 101.86 yen reached earlier.
